In my role, I have the amazing opportunity to rub shoulders with extraordinary women of God. One thing I notice about you is your desire to grow deeper in your walk with Christ. You want to move past where you are to get to something new, you aren't complacent, you don't want the status quo, and you don't want to just mail it in with God. I love that! I love how you want to push past the ordinary kind of existence and enter into a deeper, more meaningful experience with the Living God. You spur me on, you challenge me, you inspire me!
The CHALLENGE:
This
year I am going on a personal journey, a challenge, of "hiding God's word
in my heart" (Psalm 119:11). As I began the journey I
thought, "How much more fun would it be to do this with other women!" Will you join me? Will you come along for the ride and
see where God takes us?
The PLAN:
Each
year Beth Moore has a Scripture Memory plan on her blog community. The goal is
to learn 2 verses a month - each woman chooses her own verse, because it's
personal and thus more meaningful. At the end of the year the women get
together and celebrate what they have learned...the 24 new verses they have
hidden in their hearts!
Can
you imagine our celebration? All of us together sharing our 24 new ways to
engage in effective warfare with our enemy? 24 new ways God can speak and
minister to our own hearts thru the counsel of His Word? 24 new ways to
experience God's power working within us thru His truth? 24 new ways we
have chosen to renew our minds? 24 ways we can bless and comfort others
thru the healing power of His Word?

the 1st and 15th of every month to encourage and remind you to pick a
verse. You are invited to comment on the post, and let all of us know

ReplyDeleteI chose this verse for a couple of reasons. First, my kids are learning it with UpStreet and I thought it would be fun to learn together. Second, I think it goes right along with this challenge in underscoring the importance of meditating and knowing Scripture.

My name is April. The verse I have chosen to start with is Genesis 50:21. This version is from The Measage translation. "Easy now, you have nothing to fear; I will take care of you and your children.' he reassured them speaking with th heart to heart."

1) on Monday morning God made it incredibly evident that this is a verse He wants me to take to heart.
2) 2012 was a growing year in many aspects for my family. It was a year during which we learned that our God is a God of His word. When He promises to provide for us, He ALWAYS follows through. As I enter into 2013, I don't want to forget that.
ReplyDeleteI chose this verse because last year was a year of much change for me. I am starting the new year with hope and promise. I know that He helps me carry any burdens that may arise and this is my reminder to trust Him with everything!

ReplyDeleteIt's easy to get down and to worry about our economic future, etc., and I want to keep my hope placed in the One who is sovereign and even have joy because of the One who is faithful.

Hi, my name is Melissa Hackney, and I love this verse because when I read it I can almost (audibly) hear certain words emphasized as the momentum builds! So the words that really speak to me here are "throw off...hinders...easily entangles...run...perseverance...already marked out...fixing on Jesus...pioneer...perfecter (great word!)...joy...endurance." I tend to be a sprinter not a marathoner, easily getting off course by daily distractions, obstacles, and sometimes, apathy. I want to be an enthusiastic marathoner!

ReplyDeleteJeff read this verse recently and I was struck by my desire to push it away. But as it sinks in, it is helping to give me an eternal view. It is in the house of mourning where I take inventory and I re-prioritize and I focus on the things that matter. It is where I hold the lives and relationships with care and treasure them for what they truly are - gifts from our Creator.
